Coal in the energy mix of the Philippines

The foundation of the Paris agreement are the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) submitted by countries in the lead up to COP21. For many countries that includes a role for low emission coal technologies, like high eficiency low emissions (HELE) and carbon capture and storage (CCS).

To ensure energy access and energy security, the Philippines is determined to transform its energy sector and to expand its energy capacity, including its coal-based power generation capacity.
