IEA WEO 2017 Insights

In our final “IEA WEO 2017 Insights”, we take a look at carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies and their role in achieving global climate goals.

CCS is an integrated suite of technologies that can capture up to 90% of CO2 emissions.

The IEA estimates that 14% of emissions reductions by 2060 must come from CCS, making it an essential tool towards achieving the 2 degrees climate target.

Policy parity for CCS alongside all low emission technologies is essential for CCS to be more widely deployed and help meet the targets of the Paris Agreement.
